SISA Coaching Points: Crossing
Crossing |
- The same principles apply to crossing as to lofted, driven, and bending balls
- It is important to emphasize the angle of approach to the ball
- Players should be aware of their body shape in relationship to the quality of the cross
- Consideration should be given to placement of the ball into the attacking spaces in and around the six yard box
|
Chipping |
- Imagine the ball is on a tee & strike under the ball to create an immediate loft & backspin
- Use instep & contact ball with the inside eyelet area of the boot
- Jab the kicking foot into the ground with no follow through
- Extend arms out for balance
